Iron deficiency is recognised as the most widespread nutritional discrepancy in the world today, with an estimated 2 billion people diagnosed as anaemic (according to the World Health Organisation). For these individuals, iron taken in supplemental form is necessary, however, iron supplements can often be problematic. Inorganic iron is difficult to digest, has low bioavailability and can cause gastric upset.
Terranova Easy Iron provides 20 mg Iron as bisglycinate chelate* (Ferrochel™), a unique iron product created by binding iron to two organic glycine molecules. The result is a chelate with a small molecular size which allows for optimal absorption and less gastric upset. Studies show that iron bisglycinate chelate is not associated with gastrointestinal side effects (nausea, constipation) in the same way that most other forms of iron are. Research has demonstrated its bioavailability even to the extent that its absorption is not impaired by the dietary inclusion of tannins and phytates (which typically hinder iron absorption).
Terranova Easy Iron also includes an antioxidant-rich foundation in the form of MAGNIFOOD. The addition of freeze-dried plant ingredients not only work synergistically to enhance and complement the absorption and utilisation of iron, but also offers valuable protection against potential oxidative damage that may occur with long term use of iron supplementation.
MAGNIFOOD COMPLEX features synergistic botanical and wholefood ingredients. The featured botanicals provide naturally occurring catalysts for iron absorption and metabolism and haemoglobin formation.
ROSE HIPS are a good source of vitamin C, a nutrient that enhances the bioavailability of iron.
ACAI BERRY also provides tocopherols and tocotrienols and offers further protection against iron-induced oxidative damage.
STABILIZED RICE BRAN is one of the richest known sources of vitamin E and related compounds (tocopherols and tocotrienols). The inclusion of Stabilized Rice Bran aids to counteract the pro-oxidant effect of iron and inhibit the oxidising effect that iron has on vitamin E.
GREEN BARLEY GRASS is a source of iron. Additionally, it is rich in chlorophyll which is molecularly almost identical to iron and produces a favourable effect on haemoglobin regeneration. The folate found in green barley grass is required for haemoglobin formation
